The Georgia Latino Film Alliance (GALFA) announced that internationally acclaimed Mexican actress and Academy Award nominee Yalitza Aparicio will receive the Georgia Latino Film Alliance Icon Award during the 15th Annual Georgia Latino International Film Festival (GALIFF XV), scheduled for September 30–October 4, 2026, at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. This recognition underscores Aparicio's significant contributions to the visibility and advancement of Latino culture in film and entertainment, both in the United States and globally.
The GALFA Icon Award is bestowed upon individuals whose careers, influence, and international presence have notably enhanced the representation of Latino culture in the cinematic world. Aparicio, who gained worldwide recognition for her breakout role in Alfonso Cuarón's Roma, earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
