Over the past several weeks, Erie County and the surrounding region have faced persistent subfreezing temperatures, heavy wind gusts, and repeated lake-effect snow events, a pattern consistent with mid-winter conditions in this part of the country. Nighttime lows have routinely dropped well below freezing, and snowfall bands have produced wind-driven snow and periods of reduced visibility for drivers and commuters alike. Local forecasts continue to show additional snow showers, blowing snow, and cold conditions at least through the coming week, emphasizing the need for caution on roadways.
