VERAXA Biotech Reports Proof-of-Concept Data for BiTAC-ADC Cancer Therapy Platform, Showing Tumor-Selective Killing

VERAXA Biotech AG (NASDAQ: VRXA) announced new in vitro proof-of-concept data for its BiTAC-ADC technology platform, which aims to improve precision in cancer treatment by enabling tumor-restricted activation of therapeutic agents. The data, reported by the company, show that BiTAC-ADCs can distinguish between breast cancer and healthy cells, achieving dose-dependent killing of 3D tumor cell spheroids while minimizing toxicity through the use of separately delivered, systemically inactive precursor components.

The findings further validate the potential of VERAXA's BiTAC-ADC platform and complement its existing BiTAC-TCE technology, giving the company two differentiated cancer therapy platforms that may be applicable across multiple solid tumor indications. According to the press release, management plans to discuss partnering opportunities for both platforms at the BIO International Convention in San Diego from June 22-25, 2026.

VERAXA’s BiTAC-ADC platform is designed to overcome limitations of traditional antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), which often suffer from off-target toxicity due to systemic release of cytotoxic payloads. By using a two-component system where the active drug is only formed at the tumor site, the approach seeks to widen the therapeutic window and improve patient outcomes. The company’s proprietary technology builds on scientific breakthroughs made at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), a world-renowned institution for life science research.

The announcement comes as the biotech sector increasingly focuses on next-generation cancer therapies that combine the specificity of antibodies with potent killing mechanisms. VERAXA’s BiTAC-ADC platform, along with its BiTAC-TCE platform, positions the company to address a range of solid tumors, which represent a significant unmet medical need. The company is rapidly advancing its pipeline of ADCs and proprietary BiTAC formats into clinical development.
