In an era where digital interactions often replace face-to-face connections, new global research from Velo, the leading nicotine pouch brand in Europe, underscores a growing desire for shared experiences. The study, conducted among 2,009 nicotine users across the UK, Spain, Pakistan, Poland, and Austria, found that 39% of adults say building meaningful connections has become harder with age. Factors such as difficulty finding like-minded individuals (28%), feeling awkward (27%), fear of rejection (24%), and fear of judgment (21%) contribute to this challenge.
To address this, Velo has launched 'Echoes of Tomorrowland,' a global network of live events and synchronized livestreams designed to bring the magic of the renowned Tomorrowland festival to fans worldwide. The initiative is rooted in the belief that music and the dancefloor are powerful catalysts for connection. According to the research, 30% of respondents agree that the dancefloor is where they feel most able to be their authentic selves, while 61% feel more comfortable expressing themselves when they see others doing the same. Furthermore, 27% of 25-35 year olds say friendships made at live music events are more genuine than those formed in other social settings.
The campaign kicked off with a social experiment at the Tomorrowland Store in Ibiza, where guests received a physical butterfly half and were challenged to find a stranger holding the matching piece. This interactive activity transformed a room of strangers into a collaborative community. The event, held on July 17, featured a performance by Ukrainian DJ Korolova and a livestream from Tomorrowland's mainstage, attracting fans, media, and influencers from around the globe.
Korolova reflected on the night, stating, 'The dancefloor is one of the few places where people feel completely free to express who they are without judgment.' Supporting artist Camden Cox added, 'Watching total strangers connect so easily through a shared experience was pure magic.'
Malky Brown, Global Head of Content & Partnerships at BAT, explained, 'With Echoes of Tomorrowland, we wanted to recreate the sense of connection that makes the festival so special. By encouraging people to step outside their comfort zones, we brought to life Velo's belief that self-expression can bring people closer together.'
The 'Echoes of Tomorrowland' events, including the Ibiza launch and others featuring live stages and synchronized streams, aim to provide a unique space for dance music fans to express themselves and forge new connections. This initiative highlights the importance of shared experiences in fostering genuine human bonds, a need that is increasingly relevant in today's digitally-driven world.
