Trollinger Law LLC has announced that nominations are now open for its annual Hometown Heroes Award, an initiative designed to recognize the dedication and service of first responders in Charles County and throughout Southern Maryland. The award, which will be presented on Oct. 5, 2026, aims to honor those who routinely put their lives on the line to protect others, often without fanfare or expectation of gratitude.
Eligible nominees include paramedics, police officers, firefighters, emergency response teams, public safety providers, emergency hospital facilities and workers, military service members, and other emergency workers. This broad category ensures that all facets of emergency response are considered, from those on the front lines to the support staff who enable critical operations.
Each winner will receive a $500 cash prize and four complimentary tickets to a luxury suite at the D.C. United game on October 24, where they will be celebrated alongside other honorees and members of Trollinger Law. Additionally, the honorees will be recognized on the field at halftime, offering a public platform to showcase their contributions.
Past recipients have included current and retired members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office, the Marine Corps, the Charles County Department of Emergency Medical Services, local police and fire departments, and volunteer rescue squads. This tradition underscores the firm's commitment to acknowledging the diverse group of individuals who serve the community in times of crisis.
Matt Trollinger, founder of Trollinger Law and a personal injury and workers' compensation lawyer in Waldorf, emphasized the motivation behind the award. "We started Hometown Heroes as a way to honor a group of people whose efforts to protect and serve others often happen behind the scenes, with no expectation of recognition," he stated. "First responders help people and families during some of their darkest and most vulnerable hours. We're proud to express our appreciation for their courage and support."
