Trilogy Metals Welcomes Alaska Land Transfer to Advance Ambler District Development

Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) has expressed strong support for the U.S. Department of the Interior’s decision to transfer approximately 1.4 million acres of federal land within Alaska’s Dalton Utility Corridor to the State of Alaska. The company views this move as a critical step toward advancing infrastructure development, including the proposed Ambler Road project, which is essential for unlocking the mineral potential of the Ambler Mining District.

The land transfer is expected to facilitate the construction of a road that would provide access to one of the world’s richest copper-dominant districts. According to Trilogy Metals, the Ambler Mining District hosts polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits containing copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver, as well as carbonate replacement deposits with high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization. The company holds a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals LLC, which owns 100 percent of the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP) in northwestern Alaska.

Infrastructure development in the region has long been a bottleneck for mining projects. The Ambler Road, if built, would connect the district to the Dalton Highway, enabling the transport of equipment and supplies. This could significantly reduce costs and logistical challenges, making exploration and potential mining operations more viable. The company emphasized that responsible development must balance economic opportunities with environmental stewardship and respect for subsistence livelihoods.

Trilogy Metals’ vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer. The company has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation, to ensure collaboration with local communities. The land transfer aligns with broader U.S. efforts to secure domestic supplies of critical minerals, reducing reliance on foreign sources for metals essential to electric vehicles, renewable energy, and defense technologies.
