Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) reported financial results for the first quarter ended Feb. 28, 2026, highlighting a strong cash position of $47.8 million and continued progress at its Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects in Alaska. The company noted that its operations are supported by a proposed $35.6 million U.S. federal strategic investment, which underscores the national importance of developing domestic sources of copper and other critical minerals.
During the quarter, Ambler Metals, the joint venture between Trilogy Metals and South32, expanded operational capacity and advanced permitting, infrastructure, and exploration activities. These efforts are setting the stage for a fully funded 2026 field program. The Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects are located in the Ambler Mining District, one of the richest known copper-dominant districts in the world, hosting polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits and carbonate replacement deposits.
The proposed federal investment is part of a broader U.S. strategy to reduce reliance on foreign supply chains for critical minerals. The Ambler Metals project is seen as a key component in this effort, given its potential to produce copper, zinc, lead, gold, silver, and cobalt. The company’s vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer while protecting subsistence livelihoods.
Trilogy Metals holds a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals, with South32 holding the remaining 50 percent. The joint venture has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation, to ensure development proceeds in cooperation with local communities. The land package spans approximately 190,929 hectares.
