The Trauma Resource Institute (TRI) will host its first annual international conference and celebrate its 20th anniversary from October 2–4, 2026, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Claremont in Claremont, California. The event will be available both in person and virtually, welcoming participants from around the world. With the theme "Rooted in Well-Being, Planted in Community, Cultivated by Hope," the conference will bring together TRI's global community of natural leaders, educators, practitioners, researchers, community partners, and individuals interested in resilience-based work.
This milestone gathering matters because it underscores the growing global reach and impact of trauma-informed and resiliency-focused approaches. TRI's international network now extends across all 50 U.S. states and more than 77 countries, reflecting a broad demand for accessible, culturally responsive mental health resources. The conference offers an opportunity for this diverse community to reflect on two decades of work, deepen connections, and explore new possibilities for expanding these practices worldwide. No previous TRI training or experience is required to attend, making the event open to longtime members, trained practitioners, and those discovering TRI for the first time.
Over the three-day gathering, participants will explore the application of the Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® and Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)® across different communities, professional settings, and populations. Programming will include presentations, discussions, interactive learning opportunities, and practical tools that participants can incorporate into their own work and communities. Both CRM and TRM are designed to help people understand the biological effects of trauma and chronic stress while learning skills that support balance and well-being. The conference will highlight how these models are being used to strengthen individuals and communities in culturally responsive and accessible ways.
Conference experiences and conversations will focus on real-world applications of CRM and TRM across diverse settings, emerging research and innovative resiliency-focused programs, community-based initiatives addressing trauma and chronic stress, practical tools and interactive learning opportunities, and meaningful collaboration with practitioners, educators, and partners from around the world. This comprehensive agenda reflects TRI's commitment to bridging research and practice, and it signals the organization's intention to scale its impact through international collaboration.
In addition to the main conference programming, TRI will hold a 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time on Saturday, October 3. Separate tickets are required for the gala. Virtual attendees will be able to access conference programming through the Whova online platform. The deadline for in-person registration is September 10, 2026, while virtual registration will remain open through September 30, 2026. The implications of this announcement extend beyond a single event. As TRI celebrates 20 years, the conference positions the organization to further influence how trauma and chronic stress are addressed globally. By fostering collaboration among practitioners, researchers, and community partners, the gathering may accelerate the adoption of resilience-based models in diverse settings, from schools to healthcare systems to community organizations. Ultimately, it reinforces the importance of community-driven, biologically informed approaches to well-being at a time when mental health challenges are increasingly prevalent worldwide.
