Total Wireless, a no-contract wireless service provider powered by Verizon's 5G network, has announced an official partnership with Western Union to offer free monthly money transfers as part of select phone plans. This initiative, effective immediately, makes Total Wireless the first U.S. carrier to integrate a money transfer benefit into its service, targeting customers who frequently send funds to loved ones abroad.
The benefit applies to Total Wireless MAX 5G BYO, MAX 5G, and ALL ACCESS plans, which range from $25 to $60 per month with auto-pay. These plans include unlimited 5G data, unlimited hotspot, and international calling and texting to over 200 countries, backed by a five-year price guarantee. Customers on these plans receive one free money transfer per month, with the transaction fee covered by Total Wireless. Transfers can be initiated through the Western Union website or app, reaching over 200 countries and territories via more than 360,000 payout locations, bank accounts, digital wallets, and cards.
According to Total Wireless, millions of people in the United States send money abroad each year, averaging more than 12 transactions annually. By eliminating the transaction fee for one monthly transfer, the company aims to help families save money that can instead be sent to loved ones. David Kim, president of Verizon Value, stated, 'Total Wireless was built on the belief that a good wireless plan should do more for its customers. Incorporating a Western Union money transfer into our plans reflects something we deeply believe: no one should have to choose between staying connected and caring for their loved ones.'
The partnership extends beyond the plan benefit, with Western Union co-promoting Total Wireless through its customer communication channels, including the Western Union app, email, social media, and in-store digital displays.
