Steyr Motors AG Completes Acquisition of BUKH A/S, Expanding Marine and Defense Portfolio

Steyr Motors AG (ISIN AT0000A3FW25) has announced the successful completion of its acquisition of 100% of the shares in Danish companies BUKH A/S and SLC Ejendomme ApS. The transaction, which closed on April 7, 2026, marks a strategic expansion for the Austrian engine manufacturer, positioning it as a full-range provider of mission-critical engines for defense and marine applications. Initial consolidation of the BUKH Group is expected from the second quarter of 2026.

The acquisition significantly expands Steyr Motors' performance range from its previous 120–300 horsepower to a new range of 24–700 hp. This move allows the company to offer a nearly complete marine portfolio for the first time, increasing revenue potential per customer and enhancing competitiveness in international tenders. BUKH is a leading specialist in SOLAS-certified (Safety of Life at Sea) engines with a globally established distribution and service network.

“With the successful closing of BUKH, we are taking a strategic quantum leap in our marine and defense business. The expansion of our portfolio, access to new markets, and the resulting synergy potential lay the foundation for further international growth,” said Julian Cassutti, CEO of Steyr Motors AG.

The integration of BUKH brings substantial scaling effects, including a significant increase in sales volume within the SOLAS segment and a second European production site that enhances supply chain resilience. BUKH’s complementary sales network is expected to accelerate market access, particularly in Asia and South America, while opening up cross-selling opportunities. In the defense sector, the expanded performance range strengthens Steyr Motors' position in the growing market for unmanned surface vessels (USVs). The SOLAS segment, characterized by high regulatory barriers and long spare parts cycles, offers a high-margin, recurring aftermarket business.

The acquisition is expected to have a positive impact on earnings already in the first full year of consolidation and to sustainably strengthen operational profitability and EBIT margin in the coming years. To ensure a smooth integration, former owner and CEO of BUKH, Soren Christiansen, will remain on BUKH’s Supervisory Board for at least two years. As of April 1, Torben Damberg, previously CTO/COO at BUKH, has assumed operational leadership of the company.

Steyr Motors AG, headquartered in Steyr, Austria, is a global leader in high-performance customized special engines for military special vehicles, boats, and auxiliary power units for main battle tanks and locomotives.
