SS Innovations International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSII) unveiled a suite of cutting-edge surgical robotic technologies at its Global Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference (SMRSC 2026) in New Delhi, India, expanding its vision beyond the existing SSi Mantra system. The company presented four key innovations under development: the SSi Vimana Aero drone-deployed surgical robot, the SSi Avtara humanoid surgical platform, the SSi Operion mobile operating room, and new single-arm robotic endoscopy and ultrasound assist carts.
The SSi Vimana Aero is designed to deliver expert robotic surgical care directly to wounded soldiers in active battle zones. Deployed via a heavy-lift autonomous drone, the system lands near the casualty and deploys two miniature robotic arms with seven degrees of freedom. A trauma surgeon can remotely operate the platform, which uses 5-millimeter instruments, to address hemorrhaging, wound repair, chest decompression, shrapnel extraction, and field suturing. The goal is to stabilize patients until evacuation teams arrive, bridging critical time gaps on the frontlines.
The SSi Avtara humanoid platform aims to leverage advanced mobility and dexterity for surgical robotic applications in healthcare, defense, logistics, disaster response, and industrial settings. Integrated with artificial intelligence and teleoperation frameworks, the humanoid is designed for trainability and adaptability, enabling it to assist in clinical workflows or operate in hazardous environments. Its human-compatible design is intended to allow seamless interaction with existing infrastructure and tools.
The SSi Operion is a fully mobile, platform-agnostic operating room ecosystem built on a wheeled chassis with overhead-integrated robotics. Its zero-footprint architecture suspends all surgical components from an overhead system, providing 360-degree clinician access and real-time reconfiguration. With integrated telesurgery capabilities and low-latency connectivity, the system is expected to enable expert surgeons to operate remotely from any location, transforming the OR into a deployable, mission-ready asset for defense, humanitarian missions, and rural healthcare delivery.
The company also showcased new single-arm robotic endoscopy and ultrasound assist carts, currently in early clinical validation phases in India. These carts provide stable, precise positioning of endoscopic and ultrasound instruments under direct clinician supervision, with controlled speed and force limits to ensure safety. Compatibility with standard hospital infrastructure allows seamless integration into existing clinical workflows.
SMRSC 2026 drew more than 1,600 in-person attendees and 1,800 virtual participants from 19 nations. Expert physicians conducted 10 live telesurgeries and 13 live robotic surgeries using the SSi Mantra across multiple specialties. The conference included panel discussions covering urology, thoracic, gastroenterology, head & neck, gynecology, colorectal, general, and pediatric surgery, with separate cardiac-focused sessions. Prominent guests included Dr. Fred Moll, Vice-Chairman of SS Innovations and widely recognized as the "Father of Robotic Surgery"; Shri Pratap Rao Jadhav, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare of India; Sri Madhusudan Sai, a global humanitarian; and Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai, former Director of the ISRO Satellite Center.
