Reservoir, an agricultural innovation center and venture capital fund, announced the acquisition of Contain, Inc., an agriculture finance and data platform, along with the appointment of Nicola Kerslake as general partner. The transaction, terms of which were not disclosed, marks Reservoir's first acquisition and expands its value creation model for startups in the rugged Physical AI AgTech sector.
Kerslake will chair Reservoir VC's investment committee and lead its due diligence and underwriting functions. Her expertise in agriculture finance and data analytics is expected to strengthen Reservoir's ability to support startups in moving from pilot to commercial scale. By integrating Contain's marketplace, underwriting, financing experience, and market intelligence capabilities, Reservoir aims to accelerate the growth of portfolio companies.
Reservoir operates on-farm robotics innovation centers in the Salinas Valley and plans to expand to other key regions across California and the American West. The firm backs startups solving real problems in high-value crops and the rugged physical AI stack, combining R&D space, hands-on grower input, and early-stage capital.
