REPLOID Group AG has consolidated its fertilizer business into a newly formed company, REPLOID REGREEN GmbH, based in Wels, Austria. The subsidiary will produce and market organic fertilizers derived from insect frass, targeting the Central European market. Andreas Steinbüchler, a veteran with over 25 years in the fertilizer industry, has been appointed Managing Director.
The move comes as Europe's fertilizer market faces structural pressures, including heavy reliance on imported mineral fertilizers, tightening regulations, and soil degradation. Organic fertilizers like those from REGREEN complement mineral options by improving nutrient efficiency, building soil organic matter, and enhancing drought resilience. REGREEN plans to enter the market in fall 2026 with fertilizer sticks for potted plants, followed by lawn and agricultural fertilizers later that year.
The raw material, insect frass, is a nutrient-rich by-product generated when Black Soldier Fly larvae process organic residues from the food industry within REPLOID's ReFarmUnits. This circular approach aligns with growing demand for locally produced, sustainable solutions in agriculture and horticulture.

Steinbüchler brings significant expertise, having served as Chief Commercial Officer of LAT Nitrogen GmbH, Europe's second-largest fertilizer producer, from 2018 to 2023, and as President of the Fertilizers Europe association from 2021 to 2023.
REPLOID Group AG, founded in 2020 and listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange since July 2025, specializes in industrial-scale insect rearing for upcycling organic residues. The company operates modular ReFarmUnits and supplies young Black Soldier Fly larvae to customers, who can either use the larvae and by-products themselves or return them to REPLOID for centralized marketing. The group employs over 190 people.
