Quantum BioPharma’s Lucid-MS and unbuzzd(TM) Show Promise in Addressing Unmet Medical Needs

Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) was featured on the latest episode of The BioMedWire Podcast, where co-founder and executive co-chair Anthony Durkacz discussed the company’s lead drug candidate, Lucid-MS, and its commercial alcohol metabolism product, unbuzzd(TM). The company is a biopharmaceutical firm focused on advancing therapies for neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders, as well as alcohol misuse.

Durkacz emphasized that Lucid-MS is being developed to address mobility loss associated with multiple sclerosis (MS) by targeting nerve damage, an area he believes remains unmet by currently available treatments. The therapy aims to prevent and reverse myelin degradation, the underlying mechanism of MS, based on preclinical models. The upcoming Phase 2 clinical trial will be the first study to evaluate Lucid-MS in MS patients, following Phase 1 testing in healthy volunteers. This milestone is critical for the company as it seeks to validate the drug’s efficacy in a patient population with significant unmet medical needs.

In addition to its pipeline, Quantum BioPharma highlighted unbuzzd(TM), a commercial product designed to accelerate blood alcohol metabolism. Currently available in the U.S. market, unbuzzd(TM) offers a novel approach to reducing blood alcohol levels. The company retains a 19.84% ownership stake in Unbuzzd Wellness Inc. (formerly Celly Nutrition Corp.) as of March 31, 2026, and is entitled to royalty payments of 7% of sales from unbuzzd(TM) until total payments reach $250 million, after which the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. Quantum also retains 100% of the rights to develop similar products for pharmaceutical and medical uses, providing a potential revenue stream that could support its research efforts.

The podcast appearance underscores Quantum BioPharma’s strategy to communicate its scientific progress and commercial opportunities to investors and the broader healthcare community. The company’s focus on innovative therapies for challenging conditions, combined with a revenue-generating product, positions it to address both immediate market needs and long-term growth.
