Quantum BioPharma Hits Midpoint Enrollment in MS Imaging Study with Massachusetts General Hospital

Quantum BioPharma (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) announced that patient enrollment in its collaborative multiple sclerosis imaging study with Massachusetts General Hospital has reached the halfway mark. Preliminary imaging data show encouraging signal in acute MS lesions and potential sensitivity to gray matter lesions, according to the company's press release. The study evaluates a novel PET imaging technique using the [¹⁸F]3F4AP tracer to directly assess demyelination, which could enhance development of MS therapies, including Quantum's investigational candidate Lucid-MS. An IND submission for a Phase 2 trial of Lucid-MS was submitted to the FDA in March 2026.

The imaging study is critical because it aims to provide a direct measure of myelin damage, potentially enabling more precise monitoring of disease progression and treatment response. Current imaging methods often fail to detect gray matter lesions, which are common in MS and correlate with disability. If validated, the [¹⁸F]3F4AP PET technique could become a valuable tool for clinical trials and eventually clinical practice. Quantum believes this could accelerate the development of Lucid-MS, a patented new chemical entity that has shown ability to prevent and reverse myelin degradation in preclinical models.

The milestone comes as Quantum advances its pipeline beyond MS. The company also holds a stake in Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., which markets UNBUZZD, an over-the-counter product for alcohol misuse. Quantum retains a 19.84% ownership in Unbuzzd and is entitled to royalty payments of 7% of sales until $250 million is reached, then 3% in perpetuity. The company retains 100% rights to develop similar products for pharmaceutical and medical uses.

Quantum's focus on neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders positions it in a competitive space, but the imaging collaboration with a top-tier institution like Massachusetts General Hospital adds credibility. The ability to directly visualize demyelination could differentiate Lucid-MS from other therapies. For more details, the full press release is available at https://ibn.fm/4IZ0y.
