Quantum BioPharma Advances Multiple Sclerosis Therapy LUCID-MS to Phase 2 Trials

Quantum BioPharma (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) is advancing its lead multiple sclerosis therapy candidate, LUCID-MS, following favorable Phase 1 clinical results. The company announced that the therapy demonstrated a favorable safety profile and was generally well tolerated in healthy volunteers, supporting progression into patient-focused studies. In April 2026, Quantum BioPharma submitted an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for LUCID-MS, enabling a planned Phase 2 clinical trial in people living with multiple sclerosis.

LUCID-MS is designed to target demyelination and protect or restore myelin integrity, offering a potentially first-in-class approach that directly addresses myelin loss and neurodegeneration rather than relying solely on immune modulation. The company believes this differentiated mechanism could address a critical unmet need in multiple sclerosis treatment. To support the program’s advancement, Quantum BioPharma is planning a partnership with Allucent and engaging neurological specialists to strengthen operational support.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic neurodegenerative disease characterized by the immune system attacking the myelin sheath surrounding nerve fibers, leading to communication disruptions between the brain and the rest of the body. Current therapies primarily focus on modulating the immune response, but they do not halt or reverse neurodegeneration. LUCID-MS aims to fill this gap by directly promoting remyelination and protecting neurons.

Quantum BioPharma is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to building a portfolio of innovative assets for neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders and alcohol misuse. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc., the company is focused on the research and development of Lucid-MS, a patented new chemical entity shown to prevent and reverse myelin degradation in preclinical models. The company also retains a 19.84% ownership stake in Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., which markets the OTC product unbuzzd, and receives royalty payments from its sales.
