Quantum BioPharma Advances Lucid-MS Toward Phase 2 Trials for Multiple Sclerosis

Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) is advancing Lucid-MS, a patented first-in-class drug candidate designed to directly protect the myelin sheath damaged by multiple sclerosis (MS), toward Phase 2 clinical trials. Unlike existing MS therapies that primarily target the immune system, Lucid-MS is a nonimmunomodulatory, neuroprotective compound intended to prevent myelin degradation, representing a novel approach to treating the underlying pathology of MS.

The company recently filed an Investigational New Drug (IND) application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is preparing for a Phase 2 clinical trial. This follows successful completion of Phase 1 safety studies and key toxicology programs. More than a decade of preclinical research supports Lucid-MS, including studies showing preservation of myelin integrity, reduced degradation, and improved functional recovery in animal models.

Quantum BioPharma is also collaborating with Massachusetts General Hospital on validation of a novel PET imaging technique designed to directly measure myelin integrity in MS patients. This tool could help evaluate the effectiveness of remyelinating therapies, potentially accelerating clinical development and providing objective biomarkers for treatment response.

The editorial also noted recent clinical and regulatory developments from Novartis AG (NYSE: NVS), Merck & Co. Inc. (NYSE: MRK), TG Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: TGTX), and Bristol Myers Squibb Company (NYSE: BMY), underscoring continued innovation across autoimmune, immune-mediated, and chronic inflammatory disease treatment markets. These developments highlight the competitive landscape in which Quantum BioPharma is operating.

Quantum BioPharma is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to building a portfolio of innovative assets and biotech solutions for the treatment of challenging neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders and alcohol misuse disorders. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc., Quantum is focused on the research and development of Lucid-MS, a patented new chemical entity shown to prevent and reverse myelin degradation in preclinical models.

The company also invented UNBUZZD and spun out its OTC version to Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., retaining a 19.84% ownership stake as of March 31, 2026, and receiving royalty payments of 7% of sales until $250 million is reached, after which the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. Quantum retains 100% of the rights to develop similar products or alternative formulations for pharmaceutical and medical uses.
