PFISTERER Invests $2.7 Million in Rochester Facility to Triple SICON Connector Production for U.S. Market

PFISTERER is significantly expanding its U.S. production capacity with a $2.7 million investment in three additional CNC lathes, tooling, and related production equipment at its Rochester, New York, facility. This move will increase production capacity for SICON shearbolt connector components by two and a half times, according to the company. The investment underscores PFISTERER's commitment to the North American market and positions Rochester as a central hub in its global production network.

The expansion is driven by surging demand for SICON connectors in the U.S., where more than half of the company's SICON connectors are now sold. By manufacturing directly in the U.S. rather than importing from Germany, PFISTERER aims to shorten delivery times, improve responsiveness to customer needs, and reduce transportation-related emissions. This aligns with its "Local-for-Local" approach, which emphasizes local production for local markets.

SICON is PFISTERER's shearbolt cable connection system designed for secure electrical and mechanical connections. It is compatible with a variety of conductor materials, cable types, and cross-sections. The products are electrically and mechanically type-tested in accordance with IEC 61238-1, Class A, and have also been tested according to the North American standard ANSI C119.4. Notably, SICON connectors are the only ones that meet the Class 2 requirements of this standard, making them particularly relevant for power infrastructure expansion and data center power supply.

The rapid growth of data centers in the U.S. and globally is a key factor behind the increased demand for SICON connectors. Data centers require high-performance, exceptionally reliable connections to the power grid, and SICON supports such connections, helping ensure that the power supply for critical digital infrastructure is secure and scalable. This investment will enable PFISTERER to better serve this high-growth market.

"With the expansion of our production in Rochester, we are taking an important step in our growth strategy for the U.S. market. We manufacture where our products are needed, thereby strengthening our local presence and enabling us to supply our customers more quickly and flexibly. The investment not only significantly increases our production capacity but also creates additional qualified jobs at the site," said Johannes Linden, member and spokesperson of the Executive Board of PFISTERER Holding SE.

PFISTERER Holding SE is a globally operating, publicly listed technology company headquartered in Winterbach near Stuttgart. Since 1921, it has developed solutions for safe and reliable power connections in energy infrastructure. With 19 locations in 15 countries and customers in more than 90 countries, PFISTERER provides products for connecting and insulating electrical conductors in high-, medium-, and low-voltage networks. Its solutions are used across the entire value chain, from power generation and transmission to distribution.

This investment is a strategic move to strengthen PFISTERER's position in the U.S. energy infrastructure market, particularly as data center expansion accelerates. By localizing production, the company not only enhances its competitive edge but also contributes to the resilience and sustainability of the U.S. power grid.
