Ostara today announced a major advancement in fertilizer efficiency with a new, higher-analysis formulation of its high-efficiency CG P2X fertilizer. The increased 9-42-0 with 9 Mg analysis delivers nearly 30% more nitrogen and phosphorus while maintaining the product’s agronomic performance across diverse soils and growing conditions.
The new formulation represents a strategic improvement in plant nutrition technology. By concentrating nutrients, the product allows growers to apply fewer pounds per acre, simplifying logistics and delivering more plant-available nutrients at an equal cost. This advancement addresses two critical challenges in modern agriculture: maximizing crop yield and minimizing environmental footprint.
CG P2X is designed as a high-efficiency phosphate fertilizer that releases nutrients in response to crop demand. The enhanced formula increases the nutrient density to 9% nitrogen, 42% phosphate (P2O5), and 9% magnesium (Mg). Compared to the previous formulation, this provides nearly a third more nitrogen and phosphorus per pound of product, enabling more precise nutrient management.
The environmental implications are significant. By keeping nutrients available to the crop rather than the environment, CG P2X helps reduce nutrient losses that can contribute to water quality impairment and other environmental challenges while maximizing the value of every applied pound. This aligns with global efforts to improve fertilizer efficiency and reduce agricultural runoff.
Ostara's flagship product, CG P2X, is described as the next evolution of Crystal Green and is the first highly efficient phosphate fertilizer proven to release nutrients in response to crop demand. The company's portfolio also includes Ostara CG Pearl, a phosphate fertilizer made through advanced nutrient recovery, and an organic-certified version for use in Canada and the European Union.
