Northgate González Market Launches Familia Fútbol Campaign Ahead of 2026 World Cup

Northgate González Market, Southern California's premier Mexican-themed Hispanic supermarket, officially launched Familia Fútbol, a sweeping World Cup 2026 campaign celebrating the culture, food, and passion for fútbol that unite Latino families across generations. The campaign launch took place March 18 at the landmark Yost Theater in Santa Ana, California, marking the ceremonial kickoff of a community-wide celebration that will carry through the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

The campaign honors both the families we are born into and the families we choose, the people we gather with to cheer, celebrate, and share a meal. With Mexico opening the 2026 World Cup tournament at Estadio Azteca, Northgate González Market positions itself as the cultural headquarters for World Cup celebrations in Southern California.

“Soccer is not just a sport for our families, it is memories, identity, and pride,” said Oscar González, Co-President of Northgate González Market. “Familia Fútbol is our way of celebrating this historic World Cup moment through the food, culture, and values that define who we are and who we serve. Once you step into a Latino home, you’re forever familia.”

At the heart of the campaign is an extraordinary roster of Mexican cultural legends and sports icons, including boxing champion Julio César Chávez, legendary goalkeeper Jorge Campos, luchador El Hijo del Santo, actress Angélica María, and women's national team star Scarlett Camberos. The roster also includes the iconic Pedro Infante, whose legacy provides emotional warmth and nostalgia. Additional soccer legends participating include Paco Palencia, Claudio Suárez, Ramón Morales, Braulio Luna, Francisco “Maza” Rodríguez, and Carlos Hermosillo.

The launch event at the Yost Theater was hosted by former Mexican soccer player Mariano Trujillo and sports journalist Livette Ruvalcaba. Guests experienced curated memorabilia from the Familia Fútbol campaign alongside iconic pieces celebrating Mexican legends, live entertainment featuring soccer freestylers and mariachi, and interactive moments with the campaign's talent lineup. Northgate González Market will also bring the flavors of game day to life, offering families everything they need to celebrate the World Cup at home, from freshly marinated carne asada and handmade guacamole to aguas frescas, botanas, and ready-to-serve party trays.

The March 18 launch is only the beginning. Familia Fútbol will unfold across Southern California through activations until the World Cup Final in June 2026, including meet-and-greet events featuring Julio César Chávez, El Hijo del Santo, and Angélica María; eight Familia Fútbol Fan Fests transforming Northgate Market parking lots into community stadiums (April–June); youth soccer clinics in partnership with Pixixi led by Mexican soccer legends (April–June); a Mother's Day World Cup Makeover Sweepstakes (April 15–May 10); and Father's Day Carne Asada Event and World Cup Final Viewing Parties (June).
