Noble Mineral Exploration Inc. (TSX-V:NOB, FRANKFURT: NB7, OTCQB:NLPXF) has announced preparations for a winter drill program at its Lucas Gold Project, located approximately 30 km north of Timmins, Ontario. The program, expected to total about 2,500 to 3,000 meters, aims to follow up on historical gold intersections and test new targets. A $215,000 Ontario Junior Exploration Program (OJEP) grant from the Ontario Government will help fund the work. According to the company, a recent site visit determined that a winter road must be established to access the drill site, requiring time to build a stable, deep frozen base for heavy equipment. This logistical step highlights the remote nature of the project, but also the commitment to advance exploration despite seasonal challenges.
The Lucas Gold Project is drill-ready and sits in a prolific mining region. It is located about 20 km northeast of the Kidd Creek Mine, which is celebrating its 58th year of continuous production with over 150 million tonnes of ore, and roughly 20 km east of the Crawford Nickel Resource being developed by Canada Nickel. Timmins offers full industry services, supplies, and infrastructure, with access via paved Highway 655, and there is ample access to power and water. Noble also has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in place with local First Nations, a key social license component for exploration. A general location map with local infrastructure is available Click here to see Figure 1: General Location Map with Local Infrastructure.
In 2018, Noble completed 15 NQ diamond drill holes totaling 3,184 meters covering approximately 650 meters of strike length along a 1,700-meter gold-mineralized structure identified from 2012 and 2018 airborne electromagnetic and differential magnetic surveys. The company located 37 historical drill-hole collars and twinned three of them. No further work has been done since 2018. The Lucas Gold Project hosts six discrete untested IP anomalous trends, only one of which has been investigated by diamond drilling. Gold mineralization is interpreted as structurally controlled, occurring as discrete lenses stacked within a pyrite-plus-gold mineralized tuffaceous unit. The drill holes and trend of the mineralized zone on magnetic background can be seen Click here to see Figure 2: Drill Holes and Trend of Mineralized Zone on Magnetic Background. The 2018 drilling plan with the outline of the mineralized zone projected to surface is shown Click here to see Figure 3: 2018 Drilling Plan with Outline of Mineralized Zone Projected to Surface. The plan of induced polarization zones projected to surface with collars of 2018 drilling and magnetic background is available Click here to see Figure 4: Plan of Induced Polarization Zones Projected to Surface with Collars of 2018 Drilling and Magnetic Background. Gold intersections from the 2018 drill program are detailed in Part 1 and Part 2 of Table 1: Click here to see Part 1 of Table 1: Gold Intersections from Noble’s 2018 Drill Program (True width not known at this time) and Click here to see Part 2 of Table 1: Gold Intersections from Noble’s 2018 Drill Program (True width not known at this time).
The development of the Lucas Gold Project is divided into three phases. Phase 1 focuses on establishing gold grade and extending the gold-mineralized strike length to approximately 1,700 meters. Phase 2 will establish and verify gold mineralization in additional parallel IP anomalies. Phase 3 involves geological modeling and NI 43-101 resource definition. The upcoming drill program is expected to contribute to Phase 1 and potentially test other IP anomalies.
