New Book Presents the Bible as One Continuous Story, Aiming to Bridge a Growing Knowledge Gap

For many people, the Bible remains a collection of isolated stories and familiar verses rather than a unified narrative. Doug Kroeker's new book, A Walkthrough of the Bible, published by Writers of the West, seeks to change that by guiding readers through all sixty-six books as one continuous story. The book, released on July 4, 2026, is now available in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover formats.

Kroeker, who has taught the Bible for most of his adult life, wrote the book to address a gap he observed: even those who grew up in church often lack a comprehensive understanding of how the Bible fits together. "I wrote this book because I came to realize that understanding the Bible is not always as easy as those of us who grew up in the church might assume," he said. The book is designed for both newcomers and those familiar with the text, offering a structured overview that highlights connections across the biblical canon.

The book begins with the structure of the Bible, explaining how it was written by more than forty authors over roughly fifteen centuries and why the Hebrew Bible and Christian Old Testament arrange the same material differently. From there, Kroeker moves through major eras: Creation, the Patriarchs, the Exodus, the Conquest, the Kingdom, the Exile, and the return. He also covers the prophets, the Gospels, Paul's letters, and key doctrines such as sin, salvation, and the church's mission, presenting them as part of a single arc rather than isolated topics.

This approach matters because biblical literacy has declined, even among churchgoers. Many can recite a favorite psalm or parable but cannot explain how Ruth connects to David or why Revelation ends in a garden as Genesis began. Kroeker's book aims to fill that gap, providing a map for those who have tried to read the Bible cover to cover but stalled. As Sarah Davis, lead editor, notes, "Anyone who's tried to read the Bible cover to cover and stalled out by Leviticus will find, here, a map worth following to the end."

Chad Malvo, production manager at Writers of the West, adds that the book avoids flattening the material. "Kroeker treats doctrine as living structure rather than a dry appendix, and he's honest about the hard questions along the way instead of smoothing them over," Malvo said. This makes the book more than a summary; it is a companion for ongoing study.

Writers of the West, a hybrid publishing company founded in 2004 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, with offices in Los Angeles and New York, has helped more than 2,500 authors bring their books to market. A Walkthrough of the Bible is available for purchase on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H2GYWKVJ.

In an age of information overload and fragmented attention, A Walkthrough of the Bible offers a cohesive narrative that could help readers see the Bible not as a collection of disparate texts but as a single, unified story. By making the Bible more accessible, Kroeker's work may foster a deeper understanding of its message and its relevance.
