MS Tech Secures $1.7M Grant from Israel Innovation Authority to Develop Biosensors for Soil and Groundwater Contamination

MS Tech Secures $1.7M Grant from Israel Innovation Authority to Develop Biosensors for Soil and Groundwater Contamination

MS Tech Ltd., a global developer and manufacturer of nano and biosensors, announced that its Food Safety & Agritech Division has secured an approximately $1.7 million R&D grant from the Israel Innovation Authority as part of the "Green Soil" National Consortium. The consortium, chaired and led by Elbit Systems, comprises 10 industrial companies and 16 academic research groups focused on developing advanced biological technologies for in situ soil and groundwater monitoring, purification, and diagnostics.

The "Green Soil" program targets the development of biological solutions for detecting and treating environmental pollutants, including PFAS (Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances), fuel, toxic liquids, and explosives residues. By leveraging biological components, biosensors, and bacteria, along with new soil penetration techniques, the consortium aims to create effective and eco-friendly environmental solutions. The market for such technologies is estimated at billions of dollars locally, with global opportunities reaching hundreds of billions of dollars.

Doron Shalom, CEO of MS Tech, expressed the company's honor in being selected for this national initiative. "Following a rigorous scientific and technological due diligence process, the Israel Innovation Authority recognized MS Tech's strategic role in advancing biosensors-driven technologies," Shalom said. The grant award follows MS Tech's previous participation in the LIQUIDBX Consortium and underscores the company's role in advancing bio-convergence capabilities. With over 27 years of experience in analytical chemistry and technology, MS Tech's sensor technologies have applications across multiple sectors, including food safety, homeland security, biomedical diagnostics, fire and smoke detection, water and air monitoring, and aerospace.
