MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) announced the appointment of Tony Van Burgsteden as chief financial officer, effective immediately. Van Burgsteden, a member of the company’s board and former CFO of Orano Canada, succeeds Ryan Cheung, who has served as CFO since June 2025. The appointment comes as MAX Power advances toward commercial evaluation of its Saskatchewan Natural Hydrogen platform, marking a strategic shift in the company’s financial leadership during a critical phase.
Van Burgsteden brings extensive experience in the mining and energy sectors, having previously served as CFO of Orano Canada, a major uranium producer. His background in financial management and corporate governance is expected to support MAX Power’s transition from exploration to potential commercialization. The company’s Lawson Discovery near Central Butte, Saskatchewan, represents Canada’s first-ever subsurface Natural Hydrogen system confirmed through deep drilling, with data validated by three independent labs. This discovery positions MAX Power at the forefront of the emerging natural hydrogen sector, which could provide a low-carbon energy source.
MAX Power has built dominant district-scale land positions across Saskatchewan with approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits, plus an additional 5.7 million acres under application, covering prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of Natural Hydrogen. The company also holds a portfolio of properties in the United States and Canada focused on critical minerals, highlighted by a 2024 diamond drilling discovery at the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona, 100%-owned by MAX Power’s U.S. subsidiary.
The appointment of Van Burgsteden signals the company’s commitment to strengthening its financial foundation as it moves toward evaluating the commercial viability of its natural hydrogen assets. Natural hydrogen, also known as white hydrogen, is generated through natural geological processes and has garnered increasing attention as a potential clean energy source. If successfully developed, MAX Power’s Saskatchewan platform could contribute to decarbonization efforts by providing a domestic source of hydrogen without the carbon emissions associated with traditional production methods.
MAX Power is an innovative mineral and energy exploration company focused on the shift to decarbonization. The company is committed to responsible exploration and development practices that prioritize environmental stewardship, meaningful community engagement, and strong corporate governance.
