LION Smart, a company of the LION E-Mobility Group, has been awarded the TOP 100 Seal 2026, placing it among Germany's most innovative mid-sized businesses. The award, based on a rigorous scientific selection process with over 100 assessment criteria, highlights the company's commitment to innovation in intelligent energy storage and battery solutions. The announcement was made on April 14, 2026, with the official award ceremony scheduled for June 26 in Heidelberg, where former German Federal President Christian Wulff will congratulate the recipients.
The TOP 100 competition, organized by compamedia, evaluates companies across five categories: innovation-oriented top management, innovation climate, innovation processes and organisation, external orientation/open innovation, and innovation success. Professor Nikolaus Franke, innovation researcher at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, leads the selection process. “At TOP 100, we analyse thoroughly and comprehensively how innovation-driven the applicants are. Those that are exceptionally well positioned receive confirmation in the form of the TOP 100 Seal,” Franke stated.
LION Smart impressed the evaluators with its innovation-driven approach, which integrates research, development, and customer requirements from the early concept phase through to market launch. The company specializes in modular, scalable storage systems for industrial, grid, and mobility applications. In the current 33rd round, 356 companies applied, and 282 were successful. LION Smart operates in the category with more than 200 employees. The award underscores the company's role as a leader in innovation within the German mid-sized business sector.
