Kennedale, Texas, has celebrated the opening of its first dedicated dog park, Sturgeon Bark Park, located at 6729 Oakcrest Drive East. The park was made possible through a donation from Ron Sturgeon, who commissioned the park and its design to address a community need. Garret Davis of Davis Commercial Services coordinated the project from concept to completion.
The park features separate areas for large and small dogs, fire hydrants and toys for play, a water fountain, picnic tables, and a shaded canopy. It provides a safe and welcoming environment where dogs can exercise, play, and socialize, while also offering a comfortable gathering place for their owners.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official opening, attended by Sturgeon, local representatives, community members, and many excited dogs. Kennedale City Manager Darrell Hull expressed gratitude, stating, "I am so proud to accept and open our first dog park, and give heartfelt thanks to Mr. Sturgeon, as he gave us this for our citizens to enjoy with their pets, and for his help as we redevelop parts of the city."
As the city's first dog park, Sturgeon Bark Park is a significant milestone. Previously, residents had to travel outside Kennedale to find a dedicated dog-friendly space. The new park offers a convenient destination for pet owners and fosters community interaction.
