Julius Baer Group Announces Board Changes: Vice Chairman Transition and New Director Appointment

Julius Baer Group today announced significant changes to its Board of Directors ahead of the next Annual General Meeting (AGM), including the departure of Vice Chairman Richard Campbell-Breeden and the appointment of successors aimed at enhancing board expertise in the Swiss market.

Richard Campbell-Breeden has decided not to seek re-election at the upcoming AGM and will step down as Vice Chairman. He will be succeeded by Juerg Hunziker, subject to his re-election as a Board Director by shareholders. Sir Noel Quinn, Chairman of the Board of Directors, expressed gratitude for Campbell-Breeden’s contributions over eight years, particularly his leadership in recruiting a new CEO and Chairman. Quinn stated, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to Richard for his many important and valuable contributions to Julius Baer over the last eight years, particularly for his strong leadership since taking on the role as Vice Chairman in February 2024.”

Juerg Hunziker brings 40 years of technology and financial services experience, both internationally and in Switzerland, along with CEO experience building customer-focused organizations. His appointment ensures permanent senior board representation within Switzerland, a critical growth market for the wealth manager headquartered in Zurich. Quinn added, “I am delighted that Juerg has agreed to succeed Richard as Vice Chairman. Since I became Chairman, I have seen first-hand the value of Juerg’s 40 years of technology and financial services knowledge.”

Additionally, Julius Baer Group announced that Urban Angehrn has agreed to join the Board as an independent non-executive Director from the 2026 AGM, subject to shareholder approval. Angehrn has over 30 years of financial services experience in Switzerland, most recently as CEO of FINMA, and previously as Group Chief Investment Officer of Zurich Insurance Group. His expertise in investment management, risk management, regulation, and corporate governance is expected to strengthen board oversight.

Sir Noel Quinn commented, “I am also pleased to welcome Urban to the Board. Urban brings extensive experience in investment management and risk management within large and complex organisations, along with a great understanding of global financial markets, regulation, and corporate governance.”

Further details on Board and committee composition will be provided with the AGM circular to be published in March.
