Infrastructure Capital (ICA) has announced the launch of the Infrastructure Capital Nasdaq Option Income ETF (ticker: QVOL) on the Nasdaq exchange. The fund seeks to deliver high monthly income with capital appreciation by combining equity exposure to companies in the Nasdaq Composite Index with an actively managed option overlay strategy.
QVOL aims to address the traditional tradeoff between yield and capital appreciation by dynamically capturing income from the volatility-heavy technology sector while positioning the equity portfolio for growth. Unlike competitor buy-write funds that systematically write options on indexes, ICA will actively manage both the equity portfolio and option activity in tandem. The fund can selectively write options on Nasdaq equities or indexes, focusing on companies it believes are overvalued and using short-duration options to limit upside caps. This approach allows QVOL to participate in greater market upside than many of its peers.
The fund has the flexibility to select investments across the Nasdaq Composite Index, which includes a broad range of technology and growth companies. Due to the high correlation between the Nasdaq Composite and the Nasdaq-100, QVOL provides exposure to major tech names like the Magnificent Seven while offering more investment opportunities. ICA's active management approach uses quantitative, qualitative, and relative valuation factors to select equities, favoring companies with lower relative valuations or higher profitability compared to their index peers.
QVOL's investment philosophy is disciplined, consistent, and risk-managed. Each transaction considers the investment time horizon and portfolio positioning, with a sell discipline that includes excessive valuation, better opportunities, or changes in the company's fundamentals. The fund's option strategies are designed to generate high income through annual premiums from option writing.
QVOL is listed on the Nasdaq and joins ICA's existing ETF lineup, including the Infrastructure Capital Bond Income ETF (BNDS), Infrastructure Capital Small Cap Income ETF (SCAP), and others. Jay Hatfield, lead portfolio manager with over 30 years of experience, oversees all Infrastructure Capital funds. As of the launch date, the firm manages more than $3.5 billion in total assets.
Investors should consider the investment objectives, risks, and expenses carefully before investing. For more information about the fund and its strategies, visit https://www.infracapfunds.com. The fund is distributed by Quasar Distributors, LLC.
