At HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 in Shanghai, Huawei Cloud announced a comprehensive suite of enterprise AI products and services, marking a significant step in its strategy to build what it calls an "open agentic cloud." The announcements, made by Dr. Peter Zhou, Director of the Board at Huawei and CEO of Huawei Cloud, include the global launch of the latest AI Cluster Service (AICS), the Agentic Model as a Service (MaaS) platform, and expansions to the AgentArts enterprise agent platform and Industry AI Foundry. These moves are poised to reshape how enterprises develop, deploy, and scale AI agents, with implications for cloud competition and AI industrialization.
The new AICS is built on a five-level fast recovery mechanism with full-chain observability, supporting over 40 days of stable training on cloud and fault recovery within 10 minutes. It delivers 20% higher token throughput than the previous generation. Commercially available in China on September 30 and outside China on November 30, AICS addresses the growing demand for efficient, reliable AI infrastructure. Additionally, the Context Memory Storage (CMS) solution offers petabyte-scale memory with twice the storage capacity of comparable products and 50% higher read performance, crucial for long-horizon agent tasks. These infrastructure advancements are likely to lower barriers for enterprises running complex AI workloads, potentially accelerating AI adoption across industries.
Huawei Cloud's Agentic MaaS platform brings together diverse models, allowing developers to invoke state-of-the-art models from leading providers with one click and no deployment. MiniMax demonstrated its multimodal model integrated with Huawei Cloud, highlighting open, cutting-edge capabilities. This aggregation of models simplifies access to advanced AI, which could democratize AI development and foster innovation. The AgentArts enterprise-grade agent platform, along with its open-source edition openJiuwen, offers over 5,000 general and 1,000 industry-specific Model Context Protocol (MCP) assets. Already serving over 100 customers, including the Shenzhen Longgang District Government and Kingsoft Office, AgentArts will be commercially available outside China on December 30. The openJiuwen community has surpassed 50,000 stars and 3.29 million downloads, indicating strong developer engagement. By providing both commercial and open-source options, Huawei Cloud is positioning itself as a key enabler of enterprise AI, potentially challenging rivals like AWS and Microsoft Azure in the agentic AI space.
The Industry AI Foundry has accumulated more than 1,000 industry assets and over 1,000 deployed projects across five zones: Smart Healthcare, Embodied AI, AI for Science, Smart Manufacturing, and Smart Finance. Two new zones—Smart Government and AI Hardware—were launched, with the former already having 24 founding partners and the latter onboarding 15 core partners covering over 20 device types. This expansion into government and hardware ecosystems underscores Huawei Cloud's ambition to drive AI adoption at scale by turning isolated project experiences into reusable industry capabilities. The Smart Government Zone, for instance, addresses scenarios like public services and urban governance, which could lead to more efficient public sector operations. The AI Hardware Zone, with devices like AI glasses and AI toys, signals a push into consumer and edge AI, potentially creating new markets.
These announcements matter because they represent a holistic approach to agentic AI—from silicon-level infrastructure to enterprise platforms and industry ecosystems. By building an open agentic cloud, Huawei Cloud is not only advancing its own technology but also fostering a partner ecosystem that includes companies like Chinasoft International and iSoftStone Group. This could accelerate AI adoption across sectors, drive economic growth, and intensify competition in the cloud AI market. As AI agents become more capable and ubiquitous, the infrastructure and platforms that support them will be critical, and Huawei Cloud's comprehensive offerings position it as a formidable player. The global availability of these products will test Huawei Cloud's ability to compete in international markets amid geopolitical tensions, but the focus on openness and collaboration may appeal to enterprises seeking flexibility and innovation.
