Hong Kong-Led GoGlobal Task Force Delegation Heads to Canada to Boost Mainland Enterprises' Global Expansion

Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), a member of the Task Force on Supporting Mainland Enterprises in Going Global (GoGlobal Task Force), will lead a seven-day delegation to Canada starting September 20, 2026, to support Mainland enterprises in expanding their global business. The visit, announced on September 18, 2026, underscores Hong Kong's role as a super-connector between Mainland China and international markets, particularly in strategic sectors such as sustainability and life and health sciences.

Ms Loretta Lee, Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion at InvestHK, will head the delegation, which includes Chinese Mainland companies specializing in green technology and life and health sciences. The delegation will visit Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton, aiming to help these enterprises understand local ecosystems and align their global expansion needs. Simultaneously, the mission seeks to attract Canadian businesses in these sectors to invest in Hong Kong, driving new growth impetus for both regions.

Ms Lee emphasized the strategic importance of the visit: "Canada is globally recognised for its exceptional research talent, clean technology leadership, and established life sciences ecosystem. As more Mainland green technology and life and health sciences enterprises pursue international growth through Hong Kong, they bring not only capital and access to one of the world's largest markets, but also serve as ideal partners for Canadian companies seeking to explore Asia and beyond. We are keen to build fresh synergies with Canadian businesses to strengthen innovation, collaboration, and investment flows."

The delegation's itinerary includes meetings with local institutions, chambers of commerce, and industry associations. They will engage in targeted discussions with leading Canadian green tech and healthcare enterprises, visit universities and research parks, and participate in sector-specific roundtables and business networking sessions. These activities are designed to create concrete opportunities for partnership and knowledge exchange.

This mission is part of a broader outbound effort supervised by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development. It highlights Hong Kong's unique position under the "one country, two systems" framework, leveraging its international connectivity and robust financial infrastructure to facilitate Mainland enterprises' global ambitions. By bridging Mainland innovation with Canadian expertise, the initiative aims to catalyze cross-border investment and technological collaboration.

The visit also signals Hong Kong's proactive approach to economic diversification and its commitment to supporting national strategies like the Belt and Road Initiative. As global supply chains evolve, such missions can enhance Hong Kong's attractiveness as a hub for multinational corporations and a gateway for Canadian firms seeking Asian opportunities. The outcomes could include new joint ventures, research collaborations, and investment flows that bolster both economies.
