Greenland Mines Advances Rare Earth and Palladium Projects, Citing Strong Economics and Strategic Partnerships

Greenland Mines (NASDAQ: GRML) is pressing forward with its transformation into a multi-asset critical minerals developer, as detailed in a shareholder letter from President Dr. Bo Moller Stensgaard. The letter, issued September 3, 2026, outlines the company's achievements since its rebranding in March, including the completion of the Sarfartoq Neodymium-Praseodymium (Nd-Pr) rare earths acquisition on September 1 and ongoing development at the Skaergaard palladium-gold-platinum project.

The closure of the Sarfartoq acquisition marks a significant milestone for Greenland Mines, which now holds one of the world's most promising Nd-Pr rare earth projects outside China. An independent Initial Assessment cited a high-case pre-tax net present value (NPV) of approximately $2.05 billion and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 118.6%, including Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resources. The updated resource estimate stands at 6.9 million tonnes of Indicated resources at 1.60% Total Rare Earth Oxides (TREO) and 5.3 million tonnes of Inferred resources at 0.96% TREO. These figures underscore the project's scale and economic viability, positioning Sarfartoq as a potential cornerstone for Western rare earth supply chains.

Strategic alignment with Neo Performance Materials, a Toronto-based rare earth processor, adds further credibility. Neo holds a 9.9% equity stake in Greenland Mines and has offtake rights for up to 60% of future Sarfartoq production. This partnership is designed to secure a downstream market for the project's output, addressing a critical bottleneck in the rare earth industry: the lack of processing capacity outside China. By linking Greenland's resources with allied jurisdictions, Greenland Mines aims to strengthen the North Atlantic Critical Metals Corridor, a vision that extends beyond mining to include midstream processing opportunities.

At the Skaergaard project in southeast Greenland, the company reported that its July 2026 S-K 1300 Technical Report Summary increased the Indicated palladium-equivalent (PdEq) grade by 36% and contained Indicated PdEq ounces by 31% compared to the 2022 estimate. This improvement reflects the company's commitment to resource definition and its confidence in the project's potential to become a significant source of palladium, a metal critical for automotive catalytic converters and electronics. The ongoing 2026 field program encompasses drilling, bulk sampling, geotechnical work, and environmental baseline studies. Bulk material has been shipped to GTK Mintec in Finland for metallurgical and processing flowsheet testing, a crucial step toward assessing the project's economic viability.

Looking ahead, Greenland Mines has outlined key milestones for the remainder of 2026. At Sarfartoq, the company plans to initiate infill drilling to upgrade resource confidence and prepare for a Pre-Feasibility Study. At Skaergaard, it aims to complete an Initial Assessment that evaluates a mining scenario. These activities are part of the company's broader strategy to develop its North Atlantic Critical Metals Corridor, which seeks to integrate Greenland's mineral wealth with processing and manufacturing in allied countries.

The importance of these developments cannot be overstated. With global demand for rare earths and platinum group metals expected to surge due to the energy transition and technological advancements, securing reliable, non-Chinese sources is of paramount strategic importance. Greenland Mines' progress at Sarfartoq and Skaergaard positions it to play a pivotal role in meeting this demand, while also offering investors exposure to two rapidly growing markets. As the company continues to advance its projects, its ability to execute on technical and financial milestones will be closely watched by industry analysts and investors alike.
