Georgia Accountants Raise $363,000 to Provide 1.4 Million Meals for Hungry Families

Georgia's accounting community has once again demonstrated its capacity to address food insecurity, raising $363,162.91 through the 2026 Georgia Accounting Food Fight. The amount translates to 1,452,652 meals for Georgians in need, according to a joint announcement by The Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA) and Feeding Georgia. The campaign, a friendly statewide competition among accounting firms and industry accounting departments, involved 53 team fundraising pages and more than 4,400 employees. Since its inception in 2014, the initiative has raised $3,289,797.51, providing 13,159,190 meals, underscoring the sustained commitment of accounting professionals to hunger relief.

The significance of this year's total lies not only in its scale but in its local impact. Funds raised by participating teams remain in their communities, benefiting the food bank that serves each team's area. The campaign is strategically timed to help food banks replenish resources after the heightened demand of summer months, when many families struggle with food access. Julie Kuykendall, Executive Director of Feeding Georgia, expressed gratitude to participants, noting that their generosity "strengthens the work of food banks and hunger-relief partners serving communities across our state." She added that the 2026 effort "matters, and we hope it inspires even more people to join us" in 2027.

The competition also recognizes top performers, with Nichols Cauley named Statewide Hunger Champion for raising $53,405.16 across its combined teams, and Underwood Advisors, LLC named Statewide Food Fight Hero for raising $2,061.88 and earning the most points per employee statewide. Other winners include Deloitte Atlanta Audit & Assurance (Big Four – Overall and Per Employee), Forvis Mazars, LLP (Large Firm – Overall), Cherry Bekaert (Large Firm – Per Employee), Smith Adcock and Company LLP (Medium Firm – Overall and Per Employee), Rumph & Associates (Small Firm – Overall and Per Employee), and Teradata Corporation (Industry Accounting Department – Overall and Per Employee). These awards highlight the broad engagement across firm sizes and sectors.

Boyd Search, CEO of The Georgia Society of CPAs, emphasized the profession's collective impact: "The Georgia Accounting Food Fight continues to demonstrate what our profession can accomplish when we come together in service to our communities." He noted that since 2014, the accounting community has helped provide more than 13 million meals, a figure that reflects both the generosity of individuals and the organizational power of the profession. The campaign not only addresses immediate hunger but also strengthens the infrastructure of local food banks, which partner with more than 2,000 pantries to reach 156,500 Georgians weekly.
