Energy Fuels Completes Acquisition of Australian Strategic Materials, Solidifying Western Rare Earth Supply Chain

Energy Fuels Inc. (NYSE American: UUUU) (TSX: EFR) has finalized its acquisition of Australian Strategic Materials Limited (ASM), a move that significantly advances the company's ambition to create an integrated Western mine-to-magnet rare earth supply chain. The acquisition, announced as complete, brings ASM's operating Korean Metals Plant in South Korea under Energy Fuels' control, providing an immediate source of commercial-scale rare earth metals and alloys production.

The Korean Metals Plant currently boasts an annual production capacity of 1,300 tonnes of neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) alloy, a critical component in permanent magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and various high-tech applications. Energy Fuels plans to expand this capacity to 3,600 tonnes per year, with commissioning expected as early as the end of 2026. The plant also has commercial metallization capabilities for neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr), another essential rare earth material.

Beyond the immediate operational benefits, the acquisition adds ASM's Dubbo project in Australia to Energy Fuels' portfolio. The Dubbo project is a long-life resource containing rare earths and other critical minerals, further diversifying the company's supply sources and reinforcing its position in the global critical minerals market.

Energy Fuels' strategy is to build a fully integrated supply chain that spans mining, processing, oxide production, metals, and alloys. The company already produces NdPr, terbium, and dysprosium oxides at its White Mesa Mill in Utah, the only fully licensed conventional uranium mill in the United States. The addition of ASM's metals and alloys capabilities bridges the gap between oxide production and magnet manufacturing. Furthermore, Energy Fuels' planned acquisition of Vacuumschmelze (VAC), a permanent magnet manufacturer, would extend the platform to include magnet production, completing the mine-to-magnet vision.

The company also operates heavy mineral sands projects in Brazil, Australia, and Madagascar, which are expected to supply additional rare earth feedstocks. These projects, combined with the White Mesa Mill and the newly acquired Korean Metals Plant, position Energy Fuels as a key player in the Western effort to secure a reliable and ethical supply of critical materials.

The completion of the transaction is a significant milestone in the rare earth industry, which has long been dominated by China. By establishing a Western-based supply chain, Energy Fuels aims to reduce geopolitical risks and provide a stable source of materials essential for the transition to clean energy and advanced technologies.
