As summer heat fades, Philadelphia-area homeowners have a limited window to replace aging air conditioners or upgrade to high-efficiency heat pumps with significant savings. The 2026 EAP Fall HVAC Rebate Program, administered by the Electrical Association of Philadelphia, offers instant rebates of $200 to $1,650 on qualifying complete systems installed by participating contractors. PECO customers may also qualify for additional utility rebates, but deadlines and requirements make early action essential.
The rebate tiers reward higher efficiency. For heat pumps, Tier 1 provides $500 for systems with 15.2+ SEER2, 11.0 EER2, and 7.8 HSPF2; Tier 2 offers $1,000 for 16.0+ SEER2; and Tier 3 gives $1,400 for 18.0+ SEER2. An extra $250 is available for dual-fuel or hybrid heat pump installations, which combine an electric heat pump with a furnace. Central air conditioning rebates range from $500 for 15.2+ SEER2 to $1,200 for 18.0+ SEER2. Ductless mini-split heat pumps qualify for $250 per single-zone system or $200 per zone for multi-zone systems, provided they meet 17.0 SEER2, 12.0 EER2, and 8.5 HSPF2.
The program's strict deadlines are critical: contracts must be signed between August 3 and November 13, 2026; installations must be completed by November 27; and EAP must receive claims by December 4. Waiting until cold weather arrives could leave insufficient time to select equipment, schedule installation, and complete paperwork.
Homeowners may combine EAP rebates with PECO heating and cooling rebates, as long as equipment meets both programs' requirements. However, EAP rebates cannot be combined with manufacturer rebates or discounts. Federal tax credits for HVAC equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025, are no longer available, so these state and utility incentives are especially valuable.
Upgrading before fall offers practical benefits: time to compare systems, verify efficiency ratings, and address summer comfort issues like uneven temperatures, high bills, or frequent repairs.
