Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. (TSXV: YFI) (OTC: KPIFF), a leader in interference-resilient wireless silicon and Spectrum Slicing™ technology, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AirMetal Robotics, an advanced robotics and unmanned systems group, to pursue dual-use wireless opportunities requiring high-reliability, interference-tolerant radio performance. The MOU establishes a framework for evaluating collaboration in unmanned systems, robotics, defence, security, public safety, and critical infrastructure, where resilient wireless connectivity is increasingly mission-critical.

This initiative represents one of several dual-use opportunities as Edgewater broadens the commercial applications of its PrismIQ™ silicon and Spectrum Slicing™ architecture beyond traditional Wi-Fi markets into high-value, next-generation communications platforms. Edgewater believes these developments strengthen the long-term commercial backdrop for Canadian companies developing enabling technologies for dual-use and mission-critical applications.

Industry analysts forecast strong growth for drones and the enabling communications stack. According to Grand View Research, the global drone market was approximately US$73.06B in 2024 and is projected to reach US$163.60B by 2030. A separate report from Research and Markets values the drone communications segment at approximately US$3.6B in 2024, projected to reach US$11.6B by 2030, underscoring the scale of opportunity in the connectivity layer.

Edgewater views the MOU as strategically important for three reasons: it expands the company’s addressable market into a rapidly growing segment; it reinforces the applicability of Spectrum Slicing™ in high-reliability environments; and it supports Edgewater’s strategy to position its silicon and IP platform at the centre of next-generation wireless architectures for commercial, industrial, and dual-use use cases. There can be no assurance that the MOU will lead to a definitive agreement or revenue-generating relationship, but management believes it reflects accelerating interest in the company’s technology in dual-use and other high-value wireless markets. This announcement follows Edgewater’s broader efforts to expand into dual-use applications, reflecting industry recognition that interference resilience and deterministic performance are critical design requirements across connected systems.
