AUSTIN, Texas — DETEC, an engineering and technology firm based in Monterrey, Mexico, received the Trilateral Innovation Excellence Award at the Born Global Summit & Awards, held in conjunction with SXSW. The award recognizes DETEC as a Born Global innovator that facilitates cross-border collaboration between Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
The award underscores DETEC’s growing influence as a tri-national organization with operations in Monterrey, Austin, and Toronto. The company is proving to be a model of international cooperation in telecommunications, engineering, and technology development. DETEC’s tri-national structure includes partnerships with US-based Tech Ranch, a technology business incubator in Austin, and Canadian collaborators in Toronto. This shared focus on innovation includes developing telecommunications solutions using Qualcomm technology. The company is nearing a major milestone: the planned manufacture of a 5G cellular phone module within the United States.
As a Mexican-founded company entering the global marketplace, DETEC positions itself as a representative of Latin American innovation. Noriega encouraged other founders to “think global. Be borderless. Mexico has a clear path forward as a leader in innovation and economic development, and we want to inspire others to take that step.”
