The Church of Scientology of the Valley in North Hollywood transformed its auditorium into a soccer arena on July 29, 2026, as 275 members of the local Bangladeshi community gathered for a watch party of the FIFA World Cup final. Hosted by The Sport Lovers Bangladeshi Community of LA, the event highlighted the unifying power of sports and the church's role in supporting diverse cultural groups.
Attendees arrived dressed in their favorite national team jerseys, filling the venue with energy and anticipation. The church's massive screen and high-definition setup provided a stadium-like experience, capturing every dramatic moment of the match in vivid detail. The atmosphere was electric, with fans cheering and celebrating together throughout the game.
Beyond the excitement on screen, the event was a warm celebration of Bangladeshi culture and community. Guests enjoyed traditional Bangladeshi food and spiced tea (cha), offering families and friends a taste of home while they cheered alongside fellow soccer enthusiasts. Organizers also took the stage to acknowledge the hardworking volunteers who made the event possible, some of whom serve as board members of various Bangladeshi organizations.
"Soccer has a unique way of bringing people together regardless of background, but seeing our Bangladeshi community come together under one roof with so much energy was truly special," said one attendee. "The hospitality, the big screen, the food—it felt like a stadium back home."
The Church of Scientology of the Valley regularly opens its community auditorium for cultural gatherings, civic meetings, and local celebrations as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting diverse neighborhood groups across the San Fernando Valley.
