In the wake of a recent chemical incident that forced evacuations in Garden Grove and parts of Orange County, Chef Nourish, a woman-owned prepared meal delivery company, has launched the Garden Grove Prepared Meal Support program to fill a critical gap in emergency food assistance. While organizations like the American Red Cross and county agencies provide standard relief, Chef Nourish is targeting residents with specific dietary requirements—ranging from diabetic-friendly to gluten-free and senior meals—who cannot rely on one-size-fits-all options. The company is waiving delivery fees on paid meal orders for affected households and encouraging those displaced to call (323) 909-8933 and mention the program.
Chef LaLa, founder of Chef Nourish and a longtime Orange County resident, emphasized that stress and displacement do not pause chronic conditions or dietary restrictions. “A senior with heart disease may need low-sodium meals. A person with diabetes may need balance and consistency. A child with sensory needs may only tolerate certain foods. A responder working long shifts needs real fuel,” she said. The program covers 15 special-diet categories, including diabetic-conscious, low-sodium, gluten-free, dairy-free, allergy-aware, senior-friendly, high-protein, macro-balanced, anti-inflammatory, vegetarian, culturally diverse, family-friendly, responder performance, hotel-friendly, and meals for those without kitchen access.
Chef Nourish, which serves Los Angeles and Orange County, is a physician-led and nutritionist-guided service with culinary leadership from Chef LaLa, a master chef. The company prepares and delivers thousands of meals weekly and is structured to support families, seniors, caregivers, hotel guests, and organizations. “Emergency food is not one-size-fits-all,” Chef LaLa added, noting that the company built its infrastructure specifically for people who need careful eating even during a crisis.
