Brown, Paindiris & Scott, LLP (BPS Lawyers) has announced that Attorney Brian Lamaj has joined the firm as a member of its commercial and real estate law departments, based in the Glastonbury office. Lamaj will handle both transactional and litigation matters, representing individuals and small businesses in commercial and real estate disputes.
Lamaj's prior experience representing municipal entities and property owners in land use and municipal law matters, including appeals of planning and zoning commission and zoning board of appeals decisions, as well as zoning enforcement actions, informs his transactional work. He understands how issues like nonconforming use, variances, and pending applications can directly affect a property's marketability. This background provides a unique perspective that is valuable in real estate and commercial transactions, as noted by Nicholas Paindiris, Partner at BPS Lawyers: "He understands how zoning and municipal issues can affect a deal long before they show up in a title search, and that kind of insight really benefits our clients."
Lamaj graduated cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he was recognized for Excellence in Clinical Education. During law school, he interned at the State of Connecticut Office of the Attorney General, representing the Connecticut Department of Labor in unemployment compensation appeals and bringing civil penalty actions against employers for wage violations. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and serves as Membership Director of the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, and is also a member of the Hartford County Bar Association. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Connecticut.
