The 'Charm'tastic Mile' of Baltimore, a 1.3-mile corridor connecting downtown, the Inner Harbor, and Harbor East, is seeking an unprecedented 100-year agreement with the City of Baltimore and Mayor Brandon Scott. The agreement, which the group hopes to finalize during the 2026 calendar year, would solidify the trademarked street's place as one of the most famous and iconic streets in America as the city moves forward with its nearly $1 billion Inner Harbor construction project.
Introduced to Charm City on April 25, 2016, the 'Charm'tastic Mile' celebrated its 10th anniversary this past April. Mayor Brandon Scott issued a Certificate of Recognition and Governor Wes Moore presented a Governor's Citation to honor the milestone. The corridor is the only USPTO registered trademark street in Baltimore and the State of Maryland, published on September 15, 2020, joining the ranks of the Magnificent Mile, Rodeo Drive, and the Vegas Strip.
The 'Charm'tastic Mile' has gained national recognition, including being listed on Google search as one of the Top 10-15 Most Famous Streets in America. It was also highly featured in the Baltimore edition of MONOPOLY, launched on October 24, 2025, with its marquee placement on the game board's Chance cards highlighted with the script 'Licensed by Hasbro Games.'
The 100-year agreement would ensure that ownership of the 'Charm'tastic Mile,' its iconic logo, and street signs remain in Baltimore forever. As the popularity of famous streets and sports culture in America continues to flourish, USPTO trademark streets and other famed streets worldwide are expected to become larger brands in the global economy. The 'Charm'tastic Mile' is positioned as a major catalyst and engine behind this trend.
The Inner Harbor project, when fully completed in 2030, is expected to benefit from the presence of the 'Charm'tastic Mile.' The corridor shares its introduction date of April 25 with the majestic Domino Sugars neon sign, which was installed 65 years earlier on April 25, 1951. The 'Charm'tastic Mile' is also part of the evolution of the Charm City nickname, coined in 1975 by then-Mayor William Donald Schaefer, who would have turned 105 this coming November 2nd.
