The Atlanta Community Food Bank, a central hub in the fight against hunger in metro Atlanta and north Georgia, has named new members to its Governing and Advisory Boards. This move comes as the organization projects that over 900,000 people in its service area will be food insecure. The appointments, effective July 1, 2026, are part of the nonprofit's efforts to make food assistance more convenient, consistent, frequent, and equitable.
Kyle Waide, President & CEO of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, expressed gratitude for the new members' commitment. The Food Bank added four new Governing Board members for Fiscal Year 2027, each serving three-year terms. They include Danielle Fallin, Dean of the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University; Marshall Guest, Chief Strategy Officer at Metro Atlanta Chamber; Noel Baber, VP & CFO at Kaiser Permanente Georgia; and Vonetta Daniels, Founder & Principal at VYD and Associates. These individuals bring expertise in public health, business strategy, finance, and consulting, which will be invaluable as the organization addresses the root causes of hunger.
In addition, Christine Connor, Managing Partner and Founder at Switch Consulting Group, has been elected as the Advisory Board Vice Chair. Two new Advisory Board members also joined: Jay Ritchie, President & CEO of Tokio Marine HCC, and Kevin Autie, Senior Manager at Gas South. Their diverse backgrounds will support the Food Bank's initiatives to expand reach and improve service delivery.
The announcement underscores the growing challenge of food insecurity in the region. The Atlanta Community Food Bank works with more than 700 community-based, nonprofit partners across 29 counties to distribute healthy food to families, children, and seniors. In 2023, the organization distributed its one billionth meal, a milestone that highlights the scale of need. With the new board members, the Food Bank aims to strengthen its role as a critical part of the food ecosystem, ensuring that all hungry people across metro Atlanta and north Georgia have access to nutritious meals when they need them.
The appointments reflect a strategic focus on leveraging leadership from various sectors to combat hunger. Danielle Fallin's background in public health will aid in addressing the health impacts of food insecurity, while Marshall Guest's experience with the Metro Atlanta Chamber could foster partnerships with businesses. Noel Baber's financial expertise will help manage resources effectively, and Vonetta Daniels' consulting background may bring innovative solutions. The Advisory Board additions, including Christine Connor, Jay Ritchie, and Kevin Autie, will provide additional strategic guidance.
