Andina Copper Reports High-Grade Porphyry Mineralization at Cobrasco Project

Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) has reported another outstanding drill intercept from hole CDH006 at the Cobrasco Project in Chocó, Colombia. The hole, collared on a new step-out platform approximately 400 meters northwest of previous drill pads, returned 486 meters at 0.42% copper, 51 ppm molybdenum, and 1.20 g/t silver, including 232 meters at 0.68% copper and 75 ppm molybdenum from 38 meters depth. These results confirm the continuity of the Cobrasco Central Cu-Mo mineralization system to the northwest.

The near-surface mineralization begins at 38 meters within weathered saprolite and continues through multiple anomalous intervals in rhyodacitic porphyries to a faulted contact at 808 meters. Two additional holes, CDH007 and CDH008, have been completed from the same drill platform, testing extensions to the northeast and north, with assays pending. Every drillhole completed to date has returned significant porphyry Cu-Mo mineralization from surface or near-surface to depths of approximately 600 meters.

The systematic step-out drilling has expanded the known mineralization footprint within the upper 600 meters to a lateral extent of approximately 950 x 525 meters, which remains open in all directions. The company plans to continue broadly spaced, systematic scout drilling to define the limits of mineralization and test newly developed targets. A second drill rig is being mobilized to support definition of new mineralized targets and in-fill drilling across widely spaced scout holes.

President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen stated: “Every scout drillhole completed to-date has intersected significant intervals of Cu-Mo mineralization, further extending the mineralization footprint. This footprint now covers an area of at least 950 x 525m within the emerging Cobrasco Central mineralization.”

Geologically, hole CDH006 intersected felsic porphyries of rhyodacite composition with mineralized intervals related to chalcopyrite sometimes replaced by bornite in intensely fractured rocks. Hydrothermal alteration progresses from strong argillic in upper portions to phyllic and grey-green-sericite (GGS) associated with the bulk of mineralization. Structural controls are evident, with a clear association between structural preparation (shearing and brecciation) and degrees of alteration and mineralization.

A low-angle fault structure at approximately 46 meters marks the introduction of high copper and molybdenum grades, including a sample of 4.6% copper and 1495 ppm molybdenum over 2 meters. A well-marked zone of magmatic brecciation extends to 270 meters, characterized by increased A-veins and high Cu-Mo grades. A faulted contact at 808 meters ends the magmatic-hydrothermal brecciation and marks the start of a distinct polymictic intrusive breccia with decreased mineralization.
