Alpha Cognition's ZUNVEYL Launch Gains Momentum in 2Q26, Exceeding Expectations

Alpha Cognition Inc. (NASDAQ: ACOG) reported second-quarter 2026 results that underscore the strengthening launch of its Alzheimer's therapy ZUNVEYL, with net product revenue increasing 71% quarter-over-quarter to $6.0 million. This growth was driven by a 37% increase in bottles dispensed, totaling 8,294, with June reaching 2,997 bottles—the strongest month since launch. Notably, this performance occurred without material stocking benefits or additional formulary wins, suggesting that the quarter's success was fueled by underlying demand and improved commercial execution.

Stonegate Capital Partners, which updated its coverage on Alpha Cognition, highlighted that the quarter's quality was better than the access backdrop suggests. Although downstream PBM implementation remains relatively unchanged at approximately 16%, prescriptions, repeat use, and facility adoption advanced. The number of quarterly prescribers reached 1,347, with 1,024 repeat prescribers and 1,908 cumulative writers. Additionally, 1,095 long-term care facilities generated prescriptions during the quarter. This broadening adoption, coupled with deepening repeat utilization, indicates that continued prescriber and facility productivity provides a meaningful growth path, while broader payer access remains an additional potential driver.

The company is balancing commercial investment with a growing evidence base. Management lowered FY26 research and development and SG&A guidance to $50 million-$54 million while maintaining its 2027 operating profitability target. Several potential milestones are anticipated, including CONVERGE data expected in the third quarter of 2026, the ongoing RESOLVE trial, and the sublingual program gated by comparative pharmacokinetic results. These developments could provide further momentum as the company works toward greater operating leverage.
