The 36th Hong Kong Book Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place from 15 to 21 July 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Running concurrently with the Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks, the three fairs are expected to bring together more than 770 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions, providing a one-stop destination for culture, sports, and leisure.
This year's theme, 'Cultural Legacy | Joyful Journeys', aims to inspire readers to explore cultural heritage and innovation in modern society while encouraging cultural and eco-tourism. Jenny Koo, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, stated that the theme invites everyone to 'immerse themselves in cultural and eco-tourism, and experience the beauty of culture and nature, broaden their horizons and stimulate their minds along the journey.'
More than 600 cultural events will be held both at the fairground and across the city. Highlights include the 'World of Art & Culture' zone featuring the 'World in Words, A Voyage of the Heart' exhibition, which uses interactive set-ups to recommend books and travel itineraries. The exhibition showcases over 200 books and items from around the world, making travel literature accessible and engaging.
The Book Fair hosts eight seminar series, including the Renowned Writers Seminar Series co-organized with Ming Pao and Yazhou Zhoukan. Featured speakers include Liu Zhenyun, Su Tong, Bi Feiyu, architect Liu Jiakun, and Louis Yu. The English and International Books Seminar Series welcomes British poet Luke Kennard and McKinsey's Joe Ngai. For the first time, the ASEAN Literary Festival will foster cultural exchange with authors like Eka Kurniawan and Clarissa Goenawan.
Other notable speakers include aerospace experts such as Professor Wu Bo from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Professor Gao Yang from HKUST, who will discuss national space missions, highlighting the recent participation of a Hong Kong orbital payload expert. Industry events like the 'International Publishing Forum' and 'IP Roundtable' will analyze market trends.
Diverse thematic zones include the Cultural and Creative Space, featuring the Fujian Pavilion, Hangzhou Pavilion, and Hong Kong exhibitor Tsi Ku Chai. Chinese Mainland Publishers will showcase 49 organizations with 20,000 publications, spotlighting Yunnan province. The Hong Kong Jockey Club will set up a themed exhibition area promoting healthy lifestyles.
Community initiatives include Sino Group's 'Joyful Reading Lucky Rewards' campaign and sponsorship for underprivileged families. The 'Fun Reading Day' organized by the Hong Kong Chinese Importers’ & Exporters’ Association will enable grassroots students to visit and receive book purchase sponsorships.
The Sports and Leisure Expo offers experiences like the 'Fit & Fearless Challenge' and interactive animal encounters with My Mini Zoo. The World of Snacks features over 1,300 snacks from 30 countries, including local brand Amore Hand Baked and sustainable snacks from Do Did Dust.
A single ticket provides access to all three events. Adult tickets are HK$30, with discounts for morning admission, re-entry, and tourists.
