The 2026 (27th) Hainan Island Carnival will take place from July 18 to August 18, transforming the entire island into a month-long celebration. With the theme 'Vibrant Free Trade Port, Charming Hainan Island,' the event features more than 50 distinctive events, including water sports, cultural performances, gourmet experiences, and shopping opportunities. Unlike traditional island holidays, this year's carnival introduces a 'whole island as a carnival' concept, breaking free from the spatial limits of conventional scenic spots.
Highlights include beach music festivals and island art exhibitions in Sanya and Lingshui, surfing and cycling in Wanning and Qionghai, rainforest trekking and Li and Miao cultural experiences in the central rainforest, and a mass chorus carnival finale in Danzhou's Haihua Island. A grand culinary carnival unfolds across the island, featuring coastal specialty markets, Southeast Asian food streets, and rainforest-themed dining, with fresh seafood and local snacks. A starry beachside gala dinner combines ocean views, gourmet cuisine, and live music.
For international visitors, Hainan offers visa-free entry for citizens of 86 countries with a 30-day stay, and international routes at Haikou and Sanya airports are steadily increasing.
